Dingli Continuous Carbonization Equipment Successfully Produces Biochar from Coconut Shells

2026-09-15

Coconut shells are a widely distributed biomass resource in many tropical regions, but they are often largely discarded or underutilized. Through a controlled carbonization process, this waste can be converted into carbon-rich biochar, thus opening up a high-value utilization pathway for coconut processing waste.

During the carbonization process, pre-treated coconut shells are continuously fed into the carbonization system and processed under controlled anaerobic conditions. The equipment remains stable throughout operation, while recovering combustible gases generated during carbonization for use as a heat source. This method not only improves energy efficiency but also facilitates continuous production.

The produced coconut shell biochar can be further processed according to different application needs. Its potential uses include soil improvement, biochar-based fertilizers, agricultural carbon management, and the production of carbon-rich materials. Furthermore, coconut shell charcoal can be further processed into products such as barbecue charcoal or hookah charcoal.

The success of this test verifies the feasibility of continuous carbonization technology for treating coconut shell waste and provides a practical solution for the utilization of biomass resources. By converting coconut shell waste into valuable carbon products, this process can both reduce biomass waste and create additional value from renewable resources.
